Suggest Treatment For Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis
Extra pulmonary tuberculosis..only symptom was weight loss on routine CT and MRI lymphnode in paragraph ealenkay and subcarinal lymph node is larger..Mantue test is postive and tb interferon is ostive...no fever no cough .. ESR IS 8 C REACTIVE IS 5 I have 3 yrs old kid is it contageous Now I am started on ATT HOW IS PROGNOSIS

Patients with extra-pulmonary TB are usually noninfectious unless they also have pulmonary disease in which the concentration of TB organisms is high and they remain contagious until they have taken their TB medications for at least two weeks. After that point, treatment must continue for months, but the infection is no longer contagious.
In general ATT for extra-pulmonary TB is given either in the form of a 9 month regimen containing isoniazid, riframpicin and pyrazinamide for first 2 months followed by isoniazid and rifampicin for 7 months, or a 6 month regimen containing isoniazid, rifampicin and pyrazinamide for 2 months followed by isoniazid, riframpicin for 4 months given on daily basis. These two regimens are found to be effective in containing lymph node tuberculosis.
