Suggest Treatment For Excessive Sweating After Eating While Having Diabetes

My friend sweats excessively when eating mid-day or evening meals. (not at breakfast) He is 83, this started about 5 years ago. He has type 2 diabetes, which he controls with medications, not insulin shots. I do not know if he has any other health conditions. He is reasonably active and not overweight. Thank you

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Sweating while eating is seen in people who have undergone salivary gland surgery.
Surgery of salivary gland especially parotid gland is followed by faulty regeneration of nerve, in simple words wrong connection of salivary gland nerves with para-sympathetic nerves which control sweating.
So, during stimulation of salivary gland nerves, the para-sympathetic nerves get stimulated and cause sweating.
If your friend also has similar history, then this is the most probable cause which required consultation with your surgeon.
If there is no such history then you need to consult your diabetologist for assessment.
Diabetes may be the underlying cause for the problem.

Thanks and take care
