Suggest Treatment For Excessive Sweating When Suffering From Diabetes

Suddenly within the last couple of months I have such a time with sweating. I never had this problem even when exerting myself, at least not like now. Sweat rolls down my cheeks and my hair get wet with sweat. I have a family history of type 2 diabetes and wondered if this could be a symptom of diabetes?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have history of diabetes and now you are experiencing excessive sweating, it commonly occurs when blood glucose drops too low, you produce excess adrenaline, which causes sweating. The sweating should stop when the blood glucose returns to normal. If obese, control your weight. You should do regular exercises and walking to maintain healthy weight.

Other medical conditions that may cause excessive sweating are hyperhidrosis, thyroid problems, hypertension or may be a warning sign of developing CAD. You are suggested to get a total health check up done with investigations to detect any thyroid problem, hypertension or cardiac problems developing so that you can be treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
