Suggest Treatment For Excessive Bruising On The Forearms With Swelling In The Leg
I have excessive bruising on my forearms and my legs with swelling on the inside of my legs above the ankle area. I just recently had blood work done to rule out some of my concerns and everything seemed to come back normal. My doctor said I just have thin skin and bruise easily, which my mother does as well. I am 68 and my mother is 87. We are of Irish heritage. Is there anything I should be concerned about and check into. My legs also hurt and I can no longer have a massage - other than very lightly - on my legs or feet. My arms are following suit, although I still like deep massage on my back.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Easy bruisibility on forearms and legs could be due to abnormality of coagulation factors or abnormality of connective tissue. I suggest you to consult a hematologist and get few investigations like platelet count, prothrombin time, activated thromboplastin time and thrombin time. In case all these parameters are within normal limits, connective tissue disorder can be suspected.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri KINDLY HIT THANKS
