Suggest Treatment For Elevated Potassium Levels While On Flomax

my husband had prostate cancer, and had the seeds implant September 2016. He s now on Flomax to help with urination. He just had his first Blood work since the surgery, and his potassium level is elevated. He s on tamsulosin hcl 0.4 mg capsule/Lasix 40 mg. And he takes supplements.

Hi,

Sorry to hear of his disease. Management of high potassium depends on. Level. If it's more then six, then it may need urgent assessments. However if less then 6, but then he may be managed at home.

Try to avoid food that contains high k level like tomatoes, banana, dates, etc. Lasix is good as it decreases potassium. Repeat level in a day to recheck. Many times high potassium is because of sampling errors.
