Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection

I just finished antibiotics for a left middle ear infection. My ear no longer hurts but it s plugged. For the past 3 weeks I have had a sore throat around bedtime- it s gone when I wake up then comes back again night after night. Today I woke up and have had the sore throat all day long. It s only on the left side and its more towards the roof of my mouth. I no longer have tonsils.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to acid reflux. The use of antibiotics can trigger hyper production of the acid. I suggest using Prilosec in the morning before breakfast. I also suggest antacids such as Maalox three times a day.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
