Suggest Treatment For Dryness, Redness And Irritation On Lips

I have had a scar on my top lip a little above the lip too. It has been very dry, red, irritated, inflamed and I have tried Neosporin, Vaseline, aloe, chapstick, gentle face wash. The medication Neosporin actually anything dryes out in 15 minutes, also tried cocunt oil. Sorry for my spelling I have a child on my lap. Also I don t have any money to pay would you be so kind to give me some advice. Thank you Trisha

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

You have a condition known as stomatitis/ inflammation of oral and/ or labial mucosa.
Since you have already tried everything almost everything OTC, therefore, as a treating doctor I would suggest you to use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream, twice daily for a few days.
Steroids are anti-inflammatory and would help with the inflammation and discomfort with it.
Though topical steroids are prescription drugs but you may try and check if its available OTC at a drug store near you.
Thereafter you may use a lip balm for maintenance.
I would also suggest adding a B- complex vitamin, once daily for a few days (2-4 weeks).
