Suggest Treatment For Dizzy Spells

I have dizzy spells that hit without notice. I have been having them for several years now. I have had two MRI s. I have been to ear specialist for inner ear and Menere s disese . Sometimes these dizzy spells will yank my head to the side and last just a few seconds. There is no pain . I quit driving because I didn t want to hurt anyone and that was 6 years ago. Don t know what to do next but since these started I no longer have a life.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of sudden dizziness for several years, 2 MRIs, ENT consultations, lasts for few seconds but severe enough that you may yank your head to the side, there is no pain and quit driving; disturbed the life due to this.

Precautions:
You have stopped driving is the best decision you have taken.
Do not be alone near the water body or fire.
Never climb up or down alone.
Do not keep a latch on bathroom doors.

The probable causes in spite of 2 normal MRI and ENT consultations can be:
Hypertension spells
Cervical spondilitis, vertebral artery insufficiency.
Medication for prostate and so on.
You need a detailed clinical evaluation, examination by a Neurologist, yet better is the Neuro-otologist if availble in your area. This will help to evaluate you for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Few more investigations that I would suggest are:
MRI of the cervical spine, and Angiography of carotid and vertebral and brains arteries.
Cardiac check-up.
To check with any medications that you might have been taking.

I hope this answer helps you to get an early diagnosis and have proper treatment so that you can drive again, become stress-free and have a great life.
