Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea & Cramps

I was just diagnosed with Crohn s Disease last March, 2014, with 8 ulcers. Was started on Prednisone and Pentasa, which seemed to help quite a bit immediately, but after 3 weeks, I began having sporadic bouts of diarrhea and cramping every several days or so. In May my doctor stopped the Pentasa and started me on an immunosuppressant. The sporadic problems continued; then abouot 4 days ago, daily cramping and diarrhea started again. Is there something else I should be doing to help? What diet changes should I make to help?

Hi Greetings
thanks for your question on HMC
i read your query and i think i would be able to help you
1. your symptoms did not respond to the prednisolone and pentasa so your doctor started you with immunosuppressent
2. Severe diarrhea combined with malnutrition often leads to problems. For example, you may suffer from anemia and have low levels of vitamin B12, folic acid, or iron.
3. i would recommend my patients a high-calorie, high-protein diet, even when he/she doesn't feel like eating
4.you must have regular meals frequently plus an additional two or three snacks each day. That will get you adequate protein, calories, and nutrients
5.take vitamins and food supplements as advised by your doctor
hope this information will help you
wish you good health
Regards
