Hello,

I understand your father's problem. Your father probably has an uncommon type 1 diabetes called LADA, as he is thin. In this the blood sugars become very high and erratic. When blood sugar fluctuates widely there can be blurring of vision as the equilibrium between in the sugar in the eye fluid and blood sugar is upset. Other causes of blurring would be cataract or diabetic involvement of the retina.
He would require to be on Insulin injections to achieve good control. His food should be wholesome but limited in simple refined carbohydrates and sugars and should be whole grains, pulses, vegetables, proteins like milk and dairy, eggs, fish and lean meat. He should avoid sweet beverages and sodas
I shall be happy to answer any other query you might have.
