Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are two steroids that are used to treat congenital adrenal hyperplasia. These are the ones recommended by the endocrinologist, Hydrocortisone and Fludrocortisone. These medication maintain salt and water balance in the body and break down carbohydrates. Other anti-itch medicines are Prax and PramaGel, which are over the counter. You might want to discuss with son's physician getting an emergency alert bracelet or necklace for your son stating his need for Hydrocortisone in emergency.

I hope this is helpful. Please return if you have more questions.
