Suggest Treatment For Chronic Unilateral Sore Throat

Looking for any info on chronic unilateral sore throat. Have had strep ruled out, both with rapid testing and culture twice over past year. Left side of throat near / mostly the tonsil, but almost deeper into neck musculature is location of ongoing irritation. I have pain in that ear at times, as well. Recently starting to have pain on that side of my neck (?) which now seems to be a trigger to frequent headaches. The sternocleidomastoid (sp?) muscle seems to be constantly irritated or tight near the base of that left ear. It just is not getting better.
