Hi I am 31 years old and have been trying to conceive since the birth of my daughter in 99 I was able to get pregnant in 2011 but that ended in an ectopic pregnancy and had to have one of my tubes removed. Since then I went to a fertility specialist. She attempted to perform an HSG but could not get the catheter thru my cervix. She then sent me back to my regular specialist. Whom sent me to have an ultrasound done to check for cervical stenosis. I infact have the stenosis and a collection of fluid in my uterus. My question is what are my treatment options from here? How effective are they? Will I be able to conceive if it is corrected?
the stenosis can be treated in several ways. the easiest is to dilate the cervix with dilators, which your gynecologist can do, although this can result in scarring as well. also, medication such as misoprostol can be used. some use a seaweed based product called laminaria, however it is less popular due to risk of infection. Obviously, there are many possible reasons for infertility. however , if cervical stenosis is the cause, then it should be correctable. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
