Suggest Treatment For Bruises On Knees After Snowboarding
I fell directly onto my knees on ice while snowboarding. Both are bruised, but one of them is swollen, very very itchy, and the skin over the kneecap is completely numb. This happened 1 week ago today. Should I be concerned of ligament or meniscal damage or could this just be a bad contusion?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A history of trauma to the knee followed by bruising and swelling is suggestive of internal soft tissue bleeding. The swelling can be due to effusion or collection of fluid in the knee joint. Numbness over the skin is suggestive of nerve injury or nerve compression. Bruising will clear away within few days but the swelling and numbness need to be investigated. Thus, I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and thus management.
