Suggest Treatment For Bruise On Lower Abdomen

A bruise has developed on my lower right abdomen. There has been no trauma, injury, or fever; I just woke up with a green/ brown/ yellow bruise. Now a day later it is bigger and rusty red color, like fresh internal bleeding. There is no soreness unless I lie flat. It is an odd shape and about 5 inches long and 6 inches wide. On a side note: my husband and I have not been preventing pregnancy.

Hello,

You have developed bruise developed on your lower right abdomen. In a day it has grown bigger like fresh internal bleeding. There is no soreness unless you lie flat. You have not mentioned about any fall, trauma or injury. If it is bruise due to trauma or some kind of injury it should go away with time. To reduce the presence of blood clots beneath the skin you can apply ointment Thrombophob on the area affected.

It will help to relieve pain and inflammation by speeding up the healing process. But if you didn't suffer any trauma and discovered bruise suddenly, it may be indicative of bleeding disorder, low blood platelets, it can be due to the side effect of certain medications, nutritional deficiency, etc. Take food rich in vitamin C, vitamin K and iron. You can also take supplements.

Thrombophob ointment is also used to treat bruises and hematoma (collection of blood under the skin). You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP to detect if the bruise is around the post operation site. You may have to get skin biopsy done if required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Green / brown / yellow colored bruise over lower abdomen suggest change in color in hematoma. Hematoma is formed due to collection of blood in subcutaneous fat. The hematoma usually resolves within few days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
