Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello i have a 91 year old mother that suffered a heart attack 7 yrs ago and did nt have surgery. she suffered a fall 1 month ago and had lt hip replacement. and she has cardio vasucular disease, and high blood pressure and recently she has been having alot of swell on rt leg her rt fore ft his turned blue like a bruise and i just noticed this this weekend what should i do.
Thank you for your question! Regarding your concern I recommend you should perform a physical examination of your mother to a GP or vascular surgeon. It should rule out a thrombotic, thrombophlebitic or embolic event of the lower limb vessels that not rarely accompany orthopedic procedures. A vascular ultrasound of lower limb should be done also with routine blood tests. It is a medical urgency, you should take your mother as soon as possible to the doctor. Hope to have been helpful to you.
