Suggest Treatment For Bruise And Swelling On The Forehead

I fell and hit my head on Thursday morning. I am disabled so I had to call the EMTs to help me off the floor and into my wheelchair. I didn't go to the hospital then but now I'm worried because I have a bruise and swelling and a headache. should I have it checked out?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your brief history and I can understand your concerns.
The symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of hematoma. It is small swelling that develops after a blunt trauma due to collection of blood. It is similar to bruises. Since you never had any episode of vomiting or loss of consciousness, you are absolutely fine and nothing to worry there.
The swelling and bruises disappear with in few days even without treatment.
You can try the following measures for symptomatic relief and to fasten the recovery.
1.You can try simple analgesics like acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain.
2.Apply ice packs over the affected area.
If you have any severe pain or increase in size of the swelling, kindly consult a general practitioner.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
