Hi, a doctor diagnosed an outer ear infection in my left ear a week ago and I have been taking antibiotics and using ear drops for that. Yesterday I flew on a plane fir 5 hours and this morning when I woke up my other ear feels blocked like it has water in it and is ringing. It's driving me crazy. Any clues on how to fix? Thankyou.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain clogging and congestion in ear and feeling of fluid moving inside the ear seems to be most probably due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum and blocked eustachian tube..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI, otoscopy etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, oral as well as nasal decongestants likeXylometazoline nasal sprays. Along with it steam inhalation and chewing chewing gum can help.. In case of no improvement in 15 days surgical drainage by making a small incision through the eardrum can help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
