Suggest Treatment For Black Discoloration On The Leg

I had cellulitis on my leg that was recurring for several. I recently had a plate and a rod removed from my leg that my orthopedic surgeon indicated had been causing the cellulitis. Since the removal, the cellulitis us gone, but has left dark blackened skin on my leg. My doctor prescribed calcitriol ointment 3mcg, but I don t think that is supposed to be used for blackened skin. What, if anything, can be used for the blackened skin? Is it permanent?
