Hi,I am Dr. Joan F. Tryzelaar (Cardiac Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 59. woman, smoking over 40 years. Four years ago I had my aortic valve replaced with a pig valve. The valve was 90 percent blocked. Today I had an EKG that came back possible left atrial enlargement Non specific ST and T wave abnormality and Abnormal ECG. I have an echo scheduled for next week. Is it possible that the EKG is wrong and everything is fine or am I possibly looking at having to have surgery again? Can the condition/conditions be treated with medication?

Suggest Treatment For Atrial Enlargement
Hi, The sensitivity of EKG for detecting atrial enlargement is low. So you should not worry and just wait for your echo to be done. Regards,
