Suggest Treatment For Amoebiasis

hi, my daughter is having amoebiasis last sunday and was admitted to the hospital she was discharged today and still continue taking antibiotics. Is it okay for her to eat yogurt cause they say it is the best probiotic. It will not affect her stomach while eating it?

Hello,

Amebiasis is not a serious issue once diagnosed is easily treated so we didn't worry a lot. Yes yogurt is said to be a good pro-biotic but scientific evidence for it's use is not robust in amebiasis. However using it is not a threat anyhow. So if she uses her medicine, I hope amebiasis will be covered irrespective of taking yogurt or not. And taking yogurt anyhow is not very bad for the stomach. So, I will advise to take the medicine properly and maintain hygiene. And let consuming yogurt be her choice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
