My sis is suffering from Adenomyosis of uterus. doctor said that she can be treated with a copper _ T and that no uterus removal surgery is required in these cases. She is 44. Can she rest assured after the insertion of Copper-T her problem will be solved and there is not any risk of her getting some other problem due to this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In adenomyosis of uterus, insertion of hormone releasing intra-uterine device would help on reducing the symptoms and cause amenorrhea. This will reduce invasion of uterine lining in muscles of uterus. If after the limit of IUD activity, the problem recurs / or with intermittent profuse bleeding issues. Hysterectomy would be a definitive answer.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
