Suggest Treatment For Acute Tonsil Infection

Writing on behalf of a young friend in her mid-20s. Hannah was hospitalized a couple of years ago for a sudden acute kidney infection. Now she has just been hospitalized again for a sudden acute tonsil infection. They want to take out her tonsils though she has no history of tonsillitis. What do you think is going on and do you agree that the operation is appropriate?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a tonsillitis. I suggest using antibiotics such as Augmentin to treat the infection. If the infection cannot be treated through antibiotics, surgery is an option of treatment.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
