Suggest Treatment For Acne

Hello Doctor, I graduated MBBS, Im suffering severe acne since 7 years, I used deriva, clincin ointments for 2 years. Took chemical peels 8 months before. After chemical peeling skin was neat and clean, but acne is back again with pus. they are almost nodulocystic. Im using Tretenoin 0.025% since 8 months, and Retino AC occasionally. Acne are leaving scars and spots on face. What should I do now to get rid off those acne, scars and spots ? My ultrascan report was normal, no PCOD. Kindly suggest a permanent solution Doctor.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
Acne is due to your adolescent hormones and you will continue to have it till that hormonal influence is over. It might be 28 yrs or even 30 yrs.
There is no permanent "cure " for acne, but you could control it well by using maintenance treatment even after all the acne lesions disappear.
Nodulocystic acne responds well to oral isotretinoin, a retonoid. This has to be given only by a dermatologist and has to be monitored for side effects. This has teratogenic potential and hence pregnancy has to be avoided while on this drug and 3 months after its cessation. Please discuss with your treating doctor regarding this drug.

For the scars you can approach a dermatologist practicing cosmetology for procedures like microdermabrasion, derma roller, chemical peels etc. Dermatologist will decide the procedure after seeing the type of scars you have.
Avoid creams on your face. Avoid too much oil on your scalp. Diet is important. Avoid milk and milk products like cheese, chocolates, sweets, sugary foods and drinks. Eat a lot of fruits rich in vitamin A. Drink lots of water.

Hope this helped.
Take care.
