Suggest Treatment For Acne On Face

Hi,I'm female, 28 y.o, 5'5 ht., 58 kgs. in wt. and suffering from mild acne for a year now,i have tried different topical solutions such as Dalacin and Zinert for treatment of acne but none of these made an improvement on my face. So i went back to my GP again and was prescribed with Tetralysal antibiotic for 2 months. I had finished the full course treatment and it really improved my skin. My acne was gone. After two weeks of not taking the antibiotic, my acne came back and I'm really worried about it now. What should I do? Should I go back to my GP and ask for another prescription ? I'm just worried that prolong use of antibiotic may cause more problems in the future. Hope you could help me with this matter. Thank you.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per you query you have acne on face and you taking medications which are not benefitting you is because your condition is recurrent and sebaceous gland under the hair follicle , when sebum get accumulated in clogged duct of sebaceous gland along with dead skin and bacteria they produce acne. I would suggest you to wash you face 2-3 times a day with mild soap and warm water to prevent the accumulation of oil ,dust and bacteria on your face. Keep applying Clindamycin gel. Avoid greasy creams ,use water based products. Don't pick or touch acne. Apply vitamin E oil at night. Apply kojic acid cream on face. If acne still persists consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe ointments containing benzyol peroxide, azelaic acid or retinoids. Sometimes doctor may also prescribe antibiotics.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
