Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump On The Calf

For about a year now, I ve had tension in my right calf muscle. Recently it s progressed into pain. There is, what feels like a muscle knot in the calf that is not going away. At times the calf is tight and sore. Blood circulation socks actually relieve the pressure and pain. I also seem to have the start of a bunion on my right foot, I m not sure if it s related? The knot, pain, swelling has occurred since I ve been working at a desk job. The knot scares me the most because it isn t going away.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful lump on the calf . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like infection , sebaceous cyst , varicose vein , skin cancer , haematoma , lymphadenopathy , injury and folliculitis . I would suggest you to clean the area with water and soap , apply warm compresses on affected area , raise your legs while lying down and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . If condition doesn't get well then consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically to check tenderness and consistency . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , anti inflammatory , anti coagulant in case of hematoma and main drain if it is pus filled .
