What Does A Hard Lump On The Ankle Indicate?

I had acupuncture treatment last Wednesday on my ankles. Wednesday evening I noticed a hard lump 2-3 inches long just below my calf muscle. Called acupuncturist but she determined that it was probably not a hemotomoa from the acupuncture because of the location of the lump, above the ankle. I got to thinking later that because I wear ankle braces that the blood was probably pushed up to the top of the brace. Therefore the lump under the calf muscle. I have not tried any treatment to decrease the lump or clot. Would like to know what I should do. Thanks

Hello,

This is difficult to evaluate without actually seeing it. Scar tissue or bruise or normal bone can be a hard lump. Infection typically would not be and would have signs of inflammation like warmth,m redness, etc.

So, cannot really say what to do if it isn't diagnosable without seeing it. but a warm compress often helps.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
