Suggest Treatment For A Chalazion On Eye

My 22 month old daughter has been diagnosed with a chalazion. We have tried a sulpher based ointment, which has helped. It is now pea sized, very swollen but compact to the red area, and on A\her bottom right eye. We have an appointment with an opthamologist on Friday but they want to do surgery and put her under. Problem? We have no insurance and cannot have the surgery until Medicaid is approved. I would rather try to make it go away before a last resort surgery. Will ginger root be an alternative? If so how long should we try? (She has had it for 9 weeks and it does not seem to affect her vision or be painful...just bothersome, ie: she rubs it)

It is very rare to get chalazion at this age.If it is painless, tablets and ointment will be of no use.Try hot fomentation three times daily for one week.Usually it will be subsided. After a week or two you can decide about the surgery
