Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having heart EF 20%..I am 81 years old on 27th October, 2016. All other organs are 100% normal , No blood sugar no eyesight problem. Only problem is Restless leg syndrome. I have taken one pouch of Calcerol 60 K 1 gm. First on 20/10/2016 & one pouch today Since 30/10/2016 I have started Shelcal 500 & Evion 400 Will it help or danger of side effects. Sorry I have no money So I withdraw
Shelcal and Evion which you inquire about contain calcium and vitamin E respectively.
They are natural supplements and shouldn't cause any side effects, but regarding the restless legs syndrome they shouldn't provide many benefits, are not used for that indication.
Treatment of restless legs syndrome can often be challenging. In your case even more so.
That is because the most commonly used options do have a high potential for side effects especially in the elderly. If there is an iron deficiency on blood tests that is a treatable cause.
Otherwise, options include dopamine agonists like pramipexole, anticonvulsants like Gabapentin, or Benzodiazepines like Clonazepam.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Olsi Taka, Neurologist
