Suggest Treatment For GERD And Acid Reflux After Laparoscopic Appendectomy

my husband just had laproscopic (sp?) Appendectomy and has such gerd and acid reflux that he is unable to eat, drink much or take any medicine to relieve pain. Any suggestions? It has been 24 hours since the surgery and his abdomen seems very distended but that may be from air that was used for the surgery. No fever or other symptoms of concern.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Deink plenty of fluids, as much as possible. Request his doctor for tablets like ranitidine, omeprazole, pantoprazole, etc. Ask him to try to sit up straight or even go around his ward for a walk. If he has not passed his bowels yet, a change in diet and the use of an enema might also provide him with some relief. But do make sure postural changes are made.

Best wishes
