Suggest Treatment After Examining X Ray

My father is 70 years old he is having coughing problem,x-ray of chest revealed -FEW CALCIFIC GRANULOMAS IN LEFT MID ZONE,IN THE PARA - HILAR REGION,SUGGESTIVE OF OLD HEALED INFECTION ( he had T.B 20 years ago which was fully cured) ... pls suggestin treatment suitable for his age

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Your father's x ray report is suggestive of old healed fibrotic lesions due to previous history of tuberculosis.
But in old age reactivation of dormant tb bacilli can occur. And so we need to rule out active tuberculosis in him.
So get done sputum examination for AFB (acid fast bacilli-bacteria causing tuberculosis).
If this is negative than no need to worry for active tuberculosis.
Post infectious bronchitis is also a possibility and coughing is common symptom in it.
So get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) and if it shows obstructive defect than he may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
So better to first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
