Suggest Steps To Get Pregnant Post Miscarriage And After An Abortion

My water broke at 21 weeks. I delivered at 23 weeks. My daughter passed away at 10 months old. We d like to try again. It s been a year and a half since giving birth to her. I also had an abortion last November as well, BC I was dealing with her in the NICU and didn t think I was emotionally ready to have another baby at that point. I had the Mirena placed during that time, and just had it removed ladt week. My question is, what steps should I take, other than taking folic acid, to get pregnant anf have a healthy pregnancy.

Hello,
since you had a miscarriage at 21weeks, and the most common cause is something called cervical insufficiency I would suggest that you have serial ultrasound monitoring from 14 weeks itself, where the cervical length should be measured and also see if the internal os is open. If yes then you should go in for cervical encirclage procedure.

warm regards,
Dr Raksha
