General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Colonoscopy per se is not going to cause painful bowel spasms as such. As per our clinical experience, it is the underlying bowel pathology which is responsible for the same; the evaluation of which can be best done by contrast CT scan of abdomen and pelvis. In case of more pain not relieved by Buscopan, the injectable option of antispasmodic in hospital is best suggested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
