Suggest Remedy For Weight Gain In A Thyroid Patient

Gud Morning doc. My wife is a thyorid patient. She takes elthroxin 125 mcg daily. She was 45 Kgs about 22 years back but now she is around 90 Kgs. Besides doing all the household chores she takes normal precautions like eating less calories but she continues to gain weight. Please advise.

Hypothyroidism slows down the metabolism automatically. A controlled healthy diet and exercise is the key.
What you eat, when and how much a person eat is everything. I will give an excample of portions since it is very important.
Breakfast: one slice of brown bread with one teaspoon of honey, 30 gram cheese or one boiled egg + one slice of brown bread.
before lunch one fruit
lunch: 200 gram fish with 1,5 cup of salad and one slice of bread or 120 gram chicken, 1,5 cup of salad, one slice of bread.
before dinner: 5 pieces of nuts, 1 teaspoon of honey
dinner: 1,5 cup of penne spaghetti with broccoli and mushrooms, or 100 gram chicken with one boiled egg
before bed: one cup of yogurt 2% fat.
Exercise is good as a person developed the muscles and muscles growth mean more calorie burnings because it reises the metabolism. Drink plenty of water. She can choose whatever activity she finds more attractive and enjoys the most such as: dancing, swiming, going to the gym, hiking, volley or some of this combined.
