What Does This Ultrasound Result Mean?

I am 54 and have been on Thyroid meds for a underactive thyroid recently my neck has been sore and enlarged a recent ultrasound revealed the following. The thyroid is large and heterogeneous. The right thyroid measures 6.7 x 3.1 x 3.4 cm. The left thyroid measures 6.3 x 2.6 x 3.0 cm. The isthmus measures 1.1 cm. There is a 1.6 x 1.7 x 1.3 cm right superior pole thyroid nodule. There is a 5.5 mm left inferior pole thyroid nodule with peripheral calcification. The thyroid appears hypervascular. IMPRESSION: Enlarged heterogeneous thyroid with a right thyroid nodule measuring 1.7 cm which is amenable for ultrasound guided FNA.

ultrasound guided FNAC will clinch the diagnosis that what kind of thyroid nodule you are having
the type of nodule will then decide the further course of treatment
so i suggest you do get a FNAC done so the treatment modality can be decided
