Suggest Remedy For Sore Throat, Swollen Lymph Nodes And Fever

My son is 15 with a sore throat. His throat and lymph nodes are swollen but no white patches on his tonsils. He is complaining of a headache which he feels is more of an issue than the throat. He has taken some ibuprofen for the swelling and pain. He has a slight fever. He says he does not feel congested in his head and he does not have a stuffy nose. What more can I give him?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query sore throat, swollen lymph nodes and fever in your child are symptoms of strep throat which is a bacterial infection. Need not to panic about it. Antibiotics are first line of treatment option in this case. In case of mild fever you can take Calpol or paracetamol for relief as well as it will relieve throat pain too. Do warm saline gargles. Sip on luke warm water. Hot milk with a pinch of turmeric boiled with it at bed time for 2-3 days as it has antimicrobial action. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Maintain oral hygiene. Take proper course of antibiotics. Get blood tests done if required.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
