Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My boyfriend was sleeping last night when all of a sudden he started trembling and getting cold sweats.. i woke him up and it all went fine in a minute or so... he said it was probably because it was hot in the room...but is this a sleep panic attack? He has happened to get day panic attacks several times too... Could you please tell me what should be done about this? Is it a serious problem?
Dear User, Thanks for trusting health care magic. Going by your description, it seems that your boyfriend has panic disorder although panic attacks can also be a part of depression. It is not a very serious problem, but it causes a great distress to the patient. So we prefer treating it with medications with very good results. In my practice, I prefer medications like Paroxetine 25-37.5 mg/day). You may advice your boyfriend to consult a psychiatrist and discuss about this. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. You may rate the answer for me. Dr. Sudhir Mahajan
