Suggest Remedy For Paining Teeth Filled 4 Months Ago?

Hi I received 2 fillings at the beginning of January. It is now the end of April and it hurts more than ever. I can't chew on it and it even hurts when I talk. I called and my dentist said she can't do anything because my new insurance doesn't kick in until June. She suggested I take ibuprofen and goody powders and just "wait it out" but it's been 4 months!! What do I do? Is there anything seriously wrong? Any quick temporary fixes.

Hi,

As per your complain it seems that pain in teeth that has be filled 4 moths back and the pain is to the extent that you are unable to chew from that side seems to be due to placing the filling too deep that it has caused exposure of the nerves that are present in the centre of the tooth. Irritation and inflammation of the nerves can lead to severe pain and for getting relief, you need to consult a dentist and get an x ray of the teeth done. Under local anesthesia the filling has to be removed, the tooth has to be prepared for root canal treatment and then treated with it for resolution of the pain, under antibiotic and painkillers coverage.

If you continue taking only painkillers it will relieve the pain only for a few hours and pain will come back so treatment of tooth is only option. As of now you can take higher painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac for temporary relief.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
