Suggest Remedy For Jaundice Post Tonsillectomy In A Teenager

Cause of jaundice post tonsillectomy in a 14 year old. My son has been drinking some, though spiked a fever yesterday, was very dry, received IV fluids at clinic, urine remained brown. pushed fluids at home, still urine brown this am, beginning to have slight yellow eyes, stomach ache, vomiting once, urine yellow to dark yellow, has had 120 cc of dark to amber urine. What else can we do, or do we have an urgent situation?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms you have mentioned need proper medical attention. Also there is need of few blood tests like LFT, CBC, ESR to be done. Urine-routine and microbial examination as well as for stomach ache an ultrasound abdomen should be performed.

Vomiting needs to be treated with i.v or i.m medication, if this continues several times then chances of dehydration are there. Did you measure his fever? To avoid further complications I suggest take him to ER. The cause can be infectious, or rise in bilirubin levels in the body. To know exactly blood tests are suggested.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
