Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a question I have not had my period for four months, and I am getting bigger around my stomach I had my tubes tide in 1990, and my last childbirth was in 89. I have back pain and all test came back neg. for pregnancy. I am 47 years old can I be going through menopause with out the hot flashes.
The symptoms such as hot flashes, back pain and missed periods for four months can indicate the onset of menopause. Your cycles will gradually reduce leading to complete cessation of periods. Avoid triggers of hot flashes such as caffeine, alcohol and spicy food. Wear breathable fabrics with less layers. Calcium and vitamin supplements can be taken in case of any tiredness. Hormone replacement therapy can be started after a direct clinical examination.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
