ENT Specialist 's  Response
Oral iron tablets, no matter how many you take, do not increase the hemoglobin beyond 1 gm% in a month.
Attention to a diet rich in iron in the form of dates, green leafy vegetables, eggs, fish and meat could help but more importantly she needs to be evaluated thoroughly for a problem either with her digestive processes or whether there is blood loss of any kind, as in stools.
Regular warm saline gargles would help the sore throat but the frequent cold and cough could be due to lowered immunity caused by the low hemoglobin, and this must be first corrected.
