Suggest Remedy For Difficulty In Urination On Stopping Birth Control
I m 46 years old, Ive been on birth control since I was 18. My OBGYN suggested I quit taking it. I had a period for three days immediately following . It s been 2 months now with no bleeding. My concern obviously is getting pregnant at 46 . For the past 3 days urinating has been very difficult. Prior to that happening I would sneeze and literally wet my pants. Questioning if I could possibly have a kidney stone. Or possibly pregnant. I do have a lot of pressure and sometimes sharp quick pains . Are these normal side effects or wishful thinking? Thank you
You are worried by two issues. Let me address them one by one.
1. At the age of 46 you could have landed in menopause and hence are not getting menses. To rule out the possibility of pregnancy, you may get your pregnancy test performed on urine. Alternatively, you may opt for Beta hCG test on the blood. If you are not pregnant, you may accept this as your menopause.
2. You seem to have stress incontinence with dysuria. This also seems to be due to the menopausal changes. The pelvic muscles become weaker in this age causing such symptoms. In addition, you may be having urinary infection and/or stone. Urine examination will clinch the diagnosis; accordingly you will be treated. Please report to your Gynaecologist.
And now at this stage, I would advise you to discontinue oral contraceptive pills and get your Pap smear done regularly every year. Moreover you are hypertensive. So contraceptive pills now are contraindicated for you.
I hope this helps you.
