Suggest Remedy For Anosmia

Hi Doc, I am suffering from Anosmia since Nov-2013 when I was affected by severe cold and nasal blockage. (Prior to that in Oct-2013, I got large skin rashes on my back, which were gone in that month itself.) I used Vicks inhaler excessively since that was the only way to breathe. every time, I inhaled vicks, I was coughing. I took Montec LC and neurobion forte tab in first week of Feb-2014 and I was able to sense smell for 3-4 days. Again, weather changed, I was back to square one. I took same medicines + defcorte in March first week, then I was okay for 2 days and again till now, I am affected by anosmia. pl suggest

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query. You would need to visit an ENT for a complete diagnosis and treatment. The causes could be anything from an allergy to a nasal polyp to something more blocking or affecting the nerve endings present in the nasal cavity. An ENT would be able to thoroughly assess you for these conditions and give you appropriate treatment. You seem to have tried all remedies that you could do on your own; now you need to visit. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Sreenivasan
