Suggest Remedy For Abscess In The Gum With Tooth Pain
I have an acute abscess in my gum, tooth? This seems to have come on overnight. I have an apt with the dentist on Saturday. It is Thursday morning now. The abscess seems to be increasing in size quite fast, is 2 days too long to wait for an apt? I have no pain or sensitivity to the tooth itself, just a tingling on the gum area affected. I'm afraid of an infection going systemic if I wait too long. Will 2 days be ok?
Detailed Answer - As per your query abscess in tooth with gum sensitivity is because of large cavity in nearby tooth which has reached to the level of pulp and cause inflammation there which is known as pulpitis. As you have no pain in your tooth so you have irreversible pulpitis which means tooth has become dead now. Infection from tooth escapes by forming abscess and reaches gum area which is not a very emergent situation. Its not at all any systemic infection. You can wait for 2-3 days.
Your tooth can be easily saved. Visit dentist and get IOPA( X-ray )of tooth done. RCT is best treatment line to save your tooth. Need not to panic, take antibiotic such as ibuprofen to prevent further infection. Do warm saline gargles.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
