Suggest Remedy For GI Problems Causing Black Stools, Heartburn And Pain

54 year old male, having GI problems off & on for years, on daily nexium for close to 6 years already. In May in got admitted for chest pain, fully evaluated & cleared for cardiac, but they didn t bother to treat my symptoms...just released me. F/up with PA had me do the enema/mag citrate combo & clean myself out. Took a couple weeks but got better. Well, a week ago it began again, constipated, chest pain, burning, etc. Same PA ordered me to to the enema/mag citrate again, this time two enemas. Just about killed me, but again, a few days later feeling better. Well, now last two days lots of cramping/pain, pooping frequently but not diarrhea, small almost black stools, today had what felt like severe heartburn also but have had nothing that would normally cause that. Have GI appointment Tuesday afternoon, but starting to wonder if I should wait that long. Feeling really weak from all the pain & misery. By the way been taking metamucil 2-3 times per day for about a week & eating fiber one cereal, etc. trying to avoid getting backed up again.

Perhaps you need to be investigated by a upper GI tract endoscopy to rule out any severe gastritis/oesophagitis/GERD /duodenal or peptic ulcer.Increasing your exercise levels , avoiding tobacco/smoking and eating healthy with adequate water intake would help deal with the constipation as you seem to be getting enough fibre.A colonoscopy may be required if chronic constipation is a problem not relieved by frequent enemas.
