Can Taking Peptones Cause Passing Of Black Stools?

My husband was given an antibiotic for his tooth pain, he has had constant severe heartburn. Taking peptones mylanta etc. even when to er. They gave him same In Iv form. I know peptones can cause black stool, but he is having black flakey stool? Is this serious?

Antacids do not cause black stools usually... Any upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding may cause bleeding which will be more of sticky stools, hair black and frequency is multiple times loose stools... In your case it looks like it's no bleeding, you should take pantocid 40 mg (pantoprazole) tab empty stomach daily in morning for two weeks... If he still feels burning sensation and pain then you should give him mucaine gel two teaspoon three times daily or sucral-O two teaspoon three times daily... Avoid taking pain killers and spicy food...
