Suggest Remedies For Swelling Of The Vagina Post A Pap Smear Test

Hi My name is Mary, my question has to do with a paps I had done on 8/1/2016. After this visit my vagina had swelled to the point that to this day I can t eat or move bowls. I was told this was from dryness or an allergic reaction from latex. I am trying cream for dryness but I am pretty swelled. What else could this be. I don t use birth control for I am not active and I had my tubes done. What can you advise me.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It might be due to a minor allergic reaction or inflammatory response after the procedure.

Nothing much to worry and it will settle in a couple of days. As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroids like betamethasone for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
