Suggest Remedies For Sudden Jerks In Arms And Legs With Tightness In Shoulders

I m getting jerking in my legs and arms when I relax. I also get ridgity between my shoulders during the day mainly and it s starting to become a nuisance. It feels like somethings biting before I get the jerking and sometimes wakes me up when I m half awake. I ve been trying to research what I might have as it s starting to concern me. I have had frontal lobe epilepsy in the past and hope its not coming back. I had an operation for it 18 years ago

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Myoclonus is a brief, involuntary twitching of a muscle or a group of muscles. Myoclonic jerks occur in healthy persons also. when this is more persistent and become more widespread then various neurological disorders are to be ruled out like multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Gaucher's Disease, subacute sclerosing panencephalitis, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), serotonin toxicity, some cases of Huntington's disease, some forms of epilepsy, and occasionally in intracranial hypotension. when myoclonus is caused by central nervous system disease it is preceded by other symptoms.
It is better you immediately consult a qualified neurologist with all your previous reports of epilepsy and its surgey, who after physical examination and some appropriate investigations can confirm diagnosis and treatment as the treatment of under lying cause is very important than mere symptomatic medication for jerks.
