Suggest Remedies For Severe Muscular Pain In Legs Post An Injury

I am a 34 y/o overweight (6 1 325lb) male. While carrying a but weighing approximately 25lbs down some stairs my foot slipped on the last step on the the concrete landing and I fell with a severe sharp burning pain running vertically along the bone in my thigh with the worse of the pain centered about 3 inches below my hip. For about 5 minutes I could not move the leg and was only able to stand after about 15min of lying on the ground with the leg completely relaxed. Any time I have to get up off of the ground i have been using my arms and other leg to get me off the ground. I can stand with little pain (2/10 scaled) walking increases it to a 4 but trying to go up or down stairs increases it to about a 7. The pain does not go away when completely relaxed or reclined and ibuprophen has had no effect on it. Stretching the muscle also does not seem to have any effect on the pain. I do not have insurance and the local free clinics and ER are severly backed up. I need advice.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems you had a crushing trauma on your leg and this causes damage in the muscle fibers. It will take a while before the muscle fibers and other damaged structures to heal fully. So, meanwhile, it is normal for you to feel pain and have it difficult to walk or stand from a sitting position.

I would advise you to drink plenty of water as proteins released in the blood from a damaged muscle may cause the kidneys to fail.
If your urine gets a dark color, or you are peeing less than usual you may need to see your doctor and make sure your kidneys are well.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

I wish you good health.

Regards,
