Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Herpes is characterized by multiple painful fluid filled blisters distributed in a dermatome. Since, there are no blisters in the area concerned, herpes is ruled out. Pain in lower part of ribs could be muscular, could be due to trauma or could be due to organomegaly. I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment, ultrasound abdomen, diagnosis and thus management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
